The Department of Catering and Confectionery successfully conducted its practical examination to assess the students’ culinary knowledge, food preparation skills, hygiene practices, presentation, and teamwork.
During the practical session, the students independently planned, prepared, cooked, and presented a variety of dishes. Each student demonstrated competence in meal preparation by selecting appropriate ingredients, following standard recipes, applying the correct cooking methods, and ensuring that all meals were attractively presented.
The students maintained good personal hygiene by wearing clean aprons, head coverings, and appropriate kitchen attire throughout the exercise. They also ensured that their workstations, utensils, and equipment were kept clean and organized while preparing their dishes.
A wide range of local and continental dishes, pastries, snacks, and desserts were displayed. The meals were assessed based on taste, texture, appearance, creativity, portioning, cleanliness, time management, and overall presentation. The dishes were well prepared, properly garnished, and arranged professionally for evaluation.
The practical exercise demonstrated that the students have acquired valuable culinary and confectionery skills through their training. Their confidence, creativity, teamwork, and attention to detail reflected the effectiveness of the practical learning programme.
Conclusion
The practical examination was successful and showcased the students’ readiness for professional catering services and entrepreneurship.
